Advanced Conventional Weapon non-proliferation activity in Georgia and the Black Sea Region

Project: Advanced Conventional Weapon non-proliferation activity in Georgia and the Black Sea Region

Implementing organisation: GCSD

Donor: CRDF Global

GCSD, with the support of CRDF Global has begun work on the project “Advanced Conventional Weapon non-proliferation activity in Georgia and the Black Sea Region.” Our primary goal is to enhance the availability of crucial information on the illicit proliferation of Advanced Conventional Weapons (ACWs) and their components. In light of Russia evolving its aggression in Ukraine into a full-scale war on February 24, 2022 it has become imperative to closely monitor and prevent the unauthorized access of restricted items and transactions.

With various sanctions packages introducing newer restrictions, it is of the utmost importance to ensure that Russian entities, particularly those associated with the Ministry of Defense, are unable to obtain advanced technology components. Simultaneously, the project will aim to provide guidance and support on the dangers of ACW component proliferation to companies, organizations, and relevant agencies in the Black Sea region.

Activities within the framework of the project will include institutional briefings with a number of public and private sector representatives, with the aim of sharing and exchanging information. Additionally, a training session will be conducted for representatives of relevant sectors, to ensure that companies and agencies will be able to avoid working with or through sanctioned entities.
